At one of the shows we
were surprised to see a pick up similar to Robin`s. It had a smoothed out
engine bay, cut down pickup bed, smooth doors etc. This prompted Robin into
doing a rebuild and more modifications that he had been thinking about for
sometime. |
Among the plans were
suicide (rear hinging doors). He used reversed 4 door centre pillars, with
hinges and sections of rear doors let into the back of a standard front door.
Sounds complicated but it was quite straight forward. |

The latch is from a Seat
Malaga and is fitted into the front of the door. |
The front bumper was
lowered as this would make the vehicle look lower. The front wings were extended
down to fill the gap. |

The forward hinging bonnet
uses Montego hinges and a cut down bonnet was used at first so he could see
what was going on. |
The finished hinges with
small mounting blocks welded to the bonnet. Skoda cable operated catch's are
used to secure the bonnet. |

So the roof could be
stored in the rear it was made into two pieces. One inch box section was used
for the mounting flanges. |
For the super smooth
look Robin completely smoothed the dash. A drop down pod will keep things
legal and the switch's will be underneath. |
