All the panels were clamped
together to ensure correct alignment before welding. |
Welding is mainly spot
to replicate the original methods, but gas is used where it was on the original
vehicle. |
New door pillars were
also fitted as the originals were very badly corroded. |
The cab with the new
panels welded in. Now all that is left is detail work such as the gutters. |
The gutters were in quite
poor condition and the decision was taken to completely renew them. This picture
shows a new lip welded on. |
The gutter was bent from
sheet and then formed to the correct profile to match the cab. Care was taken
to assemble the gutter in the same way as it was done in the factory. |
Much trial fitting was
done to get a very good fit. |
The new gutter was spot
welded into position. |
Various repairs were
required in the engine bay including repairs to the battery box. |
The underneath of the
cab after all welding. The welds which join two panels such as on the floor
are ground smooth. |
