Pedals....................Move the pedals further forward to increase leg room.
Seats......................Strengthen the backs and add head rests.
Suspension............Replace all pivots with new Aurora spherical bearings, replace front ball joints and lower arms, move rear coil overs further out.
Fuel........................Remount existing tank, replace SU fuel pumps with a Facet pump, make special place for spare can.

Checking engine push rod for straightness

Straightening the engine pushrod

The engine rebuild is a low cost one but this does not mean that I can not spend time checking all the parts I would reuse. The pushrods were checked for straightness.
------------------------------------------------------------

The push rods were held in a jig and pushed straight.

-------------------------------------------------------------

I spent along time just cleaning components of the engine. The cylinder heads were blasted, the valve guides were replaced with bronze items. These were machined to take Crane Teflon seal. The valve seats were cut to 3 angle and the valves refaced. The heads were ported. The crank was reground and new bearings fitted. The block was aligned honed to true up the main bearing housings. A Crane cam was fitted (approx 280 degree duration ), with Crane bleed down lifters and double valve springs. A long time was spent getting the lifter preload and installed spring height correct. ARP supplied the fasteners to hold the bottom end together. New timing gears and oil pump gears were fitted. The SU carbs were rebuilt and ported internally as per David Vizard spec.

Rebuilt engine back in the car

New rear coil over mounts

The rebuilt engine back in position. The block has been repainted. All hoses are replaced.
-------------------------------------------------------------

The rear coilovers are moved as far out as possible and the bar under the axle is removed.
------------------------------------------------------------

New Rear Chassis Going In.

New Rear Chassis In Position.

The chassis from the axle rearwards has been cut out and will be replaced.
------------------------------------------------------------

The new chassis with mounts for the petrol tank and cover, so the tank will be isolated from the passenger compartment.
-------------------------------------------------------------

Petrol Details
Silencer, fuel pump and tank

As I was only going to have one battery the spare fuel tin can sit in the space left. The fuel tank is nearly in the same position but the mountings are better.
-----------------------------------------------------------

The silencer is a big American item fitted up in the chassis. The fuel pump is a Facet red top race pump.

------------------------------------------------------------

Exhaust 2 into 1
Battery and silencer

As I was only having a single silencer I made a 2 into 1.

-------------------------------------------------------------

The new battery and silencer. There is good insulation around the silencer.
