Once the front has been
cut off all the double skinning was removed using an angle grinder to cut
and grind. This was an awful job. |
The front suspension
is based on a shortened Ford ( Escort or Capri ) strut. |

The car mocked up. The
wheels and tyres sit central an the arches, this dictates the suspension position
and the engine sits in the space left. |
The exhaust manifolds
were purchased so the chassis could be built around them. They are after market
Rover SD1 items. |

I sketched out the design
of the roll cage. I tried to triangulate and support suspension pick up points
as much as possible. |

and tyres stood up behind the car. This shows how big the rear end is. |

It does fit under the body work. |
To get the front wheels
as narrow as I required they had to be split rims. They cost as much as the
rear wheels. |
