Me by the van. At the
National Morris Minor rally Knebworth house. |
I put a lot of effort
into lightening all the doors on the van, cutting out all the double skinning.
I was impressed how light the van is considering all the strengthening and
extra weight of the running gear. |

The scrap yard engine
was getting tired so I acquired another engine to rebuild. The engine stand
is cheap and makes the job much easier. |
The Fiat twin cams are
under carbed and respond well to twins. The normal route is Webers but these
are expensive so I decided to make a manifold for SU`s. This is before welding. |

Once the manifold was
welded I spent a long time porting to smooth off transitions. The faces were
also skimmed to make them flat. The SU`s were a great improvement over the
standard carb, better starting, smoother running, more power and better fuel
economy. |
The original upper 4
bar mounts were inboard and this produced some odd handling, so I moved them
out board above the lower mounts. The rear ride height was also lowered and
this improved handling |
